Spasticity Solutions is a specialised clinic dedicated to the comprehensive management of spasticity and related conditions. The clinic is led by a Rehabilitation Physician, Dr Chris Baguley, who will liaise with the relevant multidisciplinary team.

We are a bulk billed clinic and we help...

We help people living with muscle tightness (spasticity) through conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and spinal cord injury.

Working with your care team, our goal is to target the tight muscles through treatments such as Botulinum toxin.

Our treatments help relax the targeted muscle, which can:

  • Reduce stiffness → muscles feel looser

  • Improve movement → joints can move more freely

  • Decrease pain → less constant tension

  • Help function → easier walking, writing, or daily tasks

We inject directly into specific muscles, which:

  • Starts working in a few days to a week

  • Effects last about 3–4 months, then can be repeated if needed

  • Treatment should be combined with therapy (physiotherapy, occupational therapy) for best results

Our treatments help manage muscle tightness, which can improve comfort and movement.

What can you expect at our clinic?

You will meet Dr Chris Baguley, who is a highly experienced Rehabilitation Physician. He has worked in multiple hospitals in metropolitan Melbourne and London, UK, and is now located at St John of God Berwick, St John of God Frankston and the Warragul Specialist Centre. He is able to travel to Aged Care facilities and specialist disability accommodation by appointment.

In the clinic, your first step is to have a bulk billed assessment consult with Dr Chris, who will liaise with your care team and devise a treatment plan.

If appropriate, you will have a follow-up appointment and receive ultrasound guided injections to the targeted muscles that are causing problems. This typically takes around 45 minutes.

Treatment effectiveness will be reviewed by either an online or in-person appointment. This step is typically 4 to 6 weeks after your injections and is around 20 minutes in length.

About 12 weeks after the first injections, you’ll come back into the clinic for further treatment, if required, which will be another 45-minute session.

Working with your care team, we aim to help improve your levels of comfort and movement.
